This month’s Supermom is Priyanka Vermani, the proud mother of a little princess Samaira. She recently hosted her Thanksgiving party where she had used a vegetable and fruit laden Turkey as a centerpiece. She made a turkey cutout from floral foam and used sturdy wooden sticks to cover it with various fruits and vegetables. This centerpiece was the highlight of her party and all her guests appreciated her for her efforts.

Camo Cake Recipe
By Ashley
15/02/2013

Baking your own cake at home is much economical than buying it from a bakery. So if you are on a shoe-string budget or want to impress your little one on his Camo birthday party, bake your birthday cake at home by using this easy recipe.
Ingredients:
  • White cake mix
  • White icing
  • Green and chocolate food coloring
  • Cake pan in any Camo theme shape such as an army tank. Alternatively, you can also use the standard circular or rectangular cake pans.
Directions:
  • Preheat the oven as directed on your cake mix pack.
  • Uniformly divide the cake mix in four mixing bowls. Add green, green plus chocolate, and only chocolate color to these mixtures. Leave the fourth mixture as it is. Start adding the food coloring in small batches so that the color doesn’t become too strong.
  • Mix the batters as instructed on the cake mix pack.
  • Spray the cake pan with a nonstick spray and spoon in the mixtures randomly in blotches. Alternate the color as much as possible so that your cake gets an authentic camo look.
  • Bake the cake as directed and let it cool down completely before you do the icing.
  • Separate the white icing in four different bowls and mix the food coloring the same way as you did with the cake. You will have icing in green, mud green, brown, and plain white colors.
  • Spoon the colored and white icing on the cake randomly in patches and smooth them out to create blotches of colors.
  • Refrigerate the cake until the icing is set.
  • Add any other embellishment you want to such as army figurines, tiny sized guns, etc.
This cake is sure to camouflage any loopholes that you might have left while planning your child’s Camo birthday party. Use themed plates and other adorable range of Camo birthday supplies to serve your guests in style. These supplies are sure to instantly jazz up your party. Have fun!

Party Description
I had plan a dino theme party this month for my little dino hunter’s fifth birthday. He had requested this theme 4 months ago and I had ample time to do the preparations. I bought the supplies from MyBirthdaySupplies and saved some valuable dollars that I spent on food.
Since I am not good at crafts and didn’t want to spend time messing with glue, I used the prepackaged invites that were pretty good featuring a dinosaur in a prehistoric background along with a ‘You are invited’ message.

For decorations, I, my son, and my 9 year old daughter drew footprints of dinosaurs throughout our driveway. At the entry door, I put up a signboard stating ‘Let’s roar with the dinosaur’. Making this signboard was very easy. I strained a white cardstock with tea and wrote the message in large-sized calligraphy font. The signboard was looking antique. Whenever a guest entered the party area, we played a loud dino roar that was actually very scary but was apt for this theme. I rented an artificial grass carpet to make the guests feel as if they are walking in a forest. We bought some plastic dino eggs and placed them at strategic locations around the party area. The tableware and Mylar balloons I bought from MyBirthdaySupplies helped me to give a complementing look to my party table. I tied a bunch of solid latex balloons and one Mylar balloon to my child’s stuffed dino toy and used it as a centerpiece.

For food, we had bone-shaped sandwiches that were cut using cookie cutter, animal blood lemonade (used food coloring), hot dogs, pretzel sticks, and much more. The favor bags had plastic dinosaurs, dinosaur shaped rubber bands, marble bounce balls, and squirt guns; all bought from MyBirthdaySupplies. It was a great party, as the kids enjoyed having some prehistoric fun.
